George Floyd - Black Lives Matter

Culture

Why should we really care about the Black? We have our own concerns, problems, blah blah blah… No, we ought to care, we need to care about every single thing happening around us, let alone such huge critical issues. Just remember the butterfly effect and the impact every single action may have on the entire world; so, it does concern us. Certainly, the black lives matter for all of us, or to put it simply: it MUST matter.

Let’s take a look at it, and review the past decade... it’s all about the African-American, the Black community, the brutality of police and some other organizations or white people. it is a movement toward humanity, toward justice; the black seeks their very initial civil rights, or better put it, human rights. Someone’s skin color should not deprive him of his rights, the chance to live just like an ordinary human being. Even Hollywood is trying to highlight humanity and the last few years, many movies have been directed on the topics concerning the black lives and their community.

The movement began in 2013 with the hashtag of #BlackLivesMatter on social media after the release of a cop who had shot an African-American teen Trayvon Martin in February 2012. Since then, a lot of protests have sparked in different parts of the USA followed by the black and the tension has fueled again since the death of George Floyd during an arrest in Minnesota, May 2020.

George Perry Floyd was a black American who was accused of using counterfeit money to buy cigarettes. Derek Chauvin, a white police officer, knelt on his neck for nearly 8 minutes keeping him handcuffed on the ground. After his death, protests against police violence toward black people quickly spread across the United States and internationally. It’s interesting that even some white people are also supporting the black and they are out on the streets calling for justice; it’s time everyone gets up, washes his mind and outlook; it is the so-called 21st century and we are not the same old puppets believing all what the media and the governments fabricate. We are all human beings, equal in our civil and human rights.
